Because it’s an email attachment, Outlook saves a copy of the attachment in the temporary folder first before asking Word to open it with Read-only rights. I was able to resolve my issue with this problem by right clicking the word document, to properties, and unclicking the read only attribute and applying it. Ps: I use a fully licensed version of office 365 monile apps, so no limitation on this side. The reason why it defaults to Reading mode is because the document is opened in Read-only mode. Someone find a workaround to this limitation ? So I think that the problemi is the office mobile app that can't save directly on the nas.
Why is my word document read only password#
Ok so it works but the google apps can't manage password protected documents.Īt home I can use my web browser, open the file station web app and edit the office documents using excel online or word online without any problem. If I chose overwrite option the file is correctly saved on the nas with the same name. While if your Word document is still blank, try the next option. If the Word document opens with text, the problem is found. Type winword /a in the Run dialog box, and press Enter. If I open the same files with google docs or sheets when I edit it a local copy of the file is saved in /qfile/tmp folder on the phone and after automatically synched with the nas. Type Run in the Search box and then press Enter.
Why is my word document read only android#
I can see my files/folders open my office document with office mobile apps but the documents open in read only mode.I can save it on onedrive or on my android phone but not directly on the nas. I connect to my qnap using qfile mobile app pointing to myqnapcloud link. Hi, I confirm that you can't save office document stored on your nas using excel or word mobile version into qfile app. It seems that Word periodically, and without warning, converts a file to ' read only' while it is being used. I have this issue even if I use QFile within my home network.Īny suggestions - apart from ditch the NAS and use OneDrive lol. If a Word document is marked as 'read only,' that means that you cannot save updates to the document they must be saved to a new document file. I am using MS Word and Excel for Android, and if I upload the same documents to OneDrive - they work fine as read/write. The QNAP support Team have remote connected and checked all my settings - not found anything wrong. The documents are read/write and are in folders with read/write permissions for both myself and admin. Leave Word by clicking on iPad Home button to (for example), look up something via Google. Choose to edit in Word and make some edits 4. So basically, when I use QFile on a mobile device such as my Galaxy S9, all documents open up as read only - preventing me from editing them unless I get my laptop out. The following actions reproducibly open a file I want to edit on my iPad as read-only: 1. Apologies if it's already posted out there, but I couldn't find anything whilst using key word searches. So I thought it might be worth ask here in case anyone else has ever had the same problem. I've been getting help from the QNAP support team for a couple of weeks now, they have been really good and not given up on me even though we still can't solve the problem.
